Co – Curricular

Our school recognises the need to challenge students in all areas, to enable them to positively experience new horizons. Our extensive co-curricular programme seeks to achieve this.

Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC)

Education Outside the Classroom is an integral part of the class programme. Learning through Physical Education allows students to develop cooperation, problem solving and trust skills. School-wide opportunities include EOTC Day, Awataha Marae, Te Awamutu exchange, sports camp, Waterwise and China trip.

Sports

We provide opportunities for students to participate in a range of team sports. A sports coordinator facilitates the participation, teams, permissions and uniforms. Trials are held and students are placed in teams appropriate to their level. Teachers are in charge of teams and parents provide valuable coaching and team managing assistance.

Core Cultural Groups

We’re fortunate to be able to offer expertise across a wide range of cultural activities. Performance is a key focus of the cultural programme and students are encouraged to participate in performance opportunities, from class instrumental performances to competitions for singing, dance, drama and rockbands.

Exchanges

The students at Belmont Intermediate School can opt to be involved in any of the three cultural and sporting exchanges during their two years and BIS.
