Teaching

Our school's highly qualified and proficient teachers actively engage in professional learning and development programmes to ensure they keep up to date with current trends in education and provide the best possible learning opportunities for our students. 

Staff

Teachers work collaboratively in teaching and learning teams to plan the delivery of the school's curriculum. Each team consists of three teachers at the same year level. This ensures the learning needs of the students in the teaching and learning teams are catered for.

Belmont Music Centre

Belmont Music Centre provides high quality tuition for primary and intermediate students, held at Belmont Intermediate School on Saturday mornings.  read more

Facilities

We currently have 19 homerooms, five specialist rooms, a Language Suite and a Learning Support Centre.  Students and the local community use the spacious grounds extensively during the school day and at weekends. 
Belmont Intermediate is located on Lake Road, the main thoroughfare to the Devonport Peninsula. Access to the school is via Winscombe Street.

PTA

We have an active and committed PTA.  It supports BIS by;

  • providing a link between students, parents/caregivers and the school;
  • raising funds to provide improved facilities and educational opportunities for members of the school community;
  • encouraging parents/caregivers to be involved in the education of their children; and
  • promoting the school in the community.

BOT

The board of trustees is made up of five parent representatives, a staff representative and the principal. We are responsible to you, our community, for the following:

  • setting the strategic vision for the school
  • working with staff to set measurable goals for academic achievement in the school
  • establishing polices to make sure the school is effectively run in a whole range of areas from financial management to buildings and maintenance
  • monitoring the implementation of those policies to make sure our students are getting the quality education they deserve
