The New Zealand school year is divided into four terms of approximately ten weeks each. There is a two week holiday at the end of terms one, two and three and a six week holiday at the end of term four.
Term 1: usually begins late January to early February, ends mid-April
Term 2: late April to early July
Term 3: late July to late September
Term 4: mid-October to mid-December

8:30am - arrive at school, catch up with friends in the playground or classroom
8:40am - first bell, go to class
8:40-8:50am - administration, teacher takes class roll, listen to school notices
Block 1
8:50-9:55am - maths & “brain break” (quick snack and chat)
9:55-10:50am - ESOL
10:50-11:15am - interval, eat morning tea, play with friends in playground
Block 2
11:15am-12:15pm - reading, writing or inquiry
12:15-1:10pm - physical education (PE)
1:10-2:00pm - lunch time, eat lunch, play with friends in playground
Block 3
2:00-3:00pm - either electives, homework, wellbeing or sport
3:00pm - school finishes, go home or join in after school sports
Once or twice a week, block 1 or block 2 is for specialist classes where students do art,
music, food technology, materials technology, science or French. Students complete a 10-week module in each of these subjects throughout the year.
